The pictures below are from my first experience having Juverderm Voluma injected in 2014
I often get asked what products and procedures really work for anti-again. Unless you want to go under the knife for plastic surgery, I suggest investing in good aesthetic procedures with a doctor you trust and medical grade skincare. Today, let me share my recent experience with Juvederm Voluma and Botox at Dr. Lynley McAnalley’s office.
Yes, I get Botox to soften my wrinkles on my forehead and crows feet around my eyes. But recently I tried Juvederm Voluma to plump up some areas on my face that are starting to look a little thin. Here’s a hint when choosing your doctors. Look at them. Do they practice what they preach? Mine do! I mean look at Dr. Lynley K. McAnalley. Super gorgeous and up on all the latest products. She only does injectables so she is proficient and a perfectionist with the needle. And that is exactly what you want. Aside from that, Lynley and I have known each other for years through our kids for over 20 years! We did Hyer cafeteria duty together and were Highland Belle moms together. All that to say, I trust her completely with advising me on what I need to keep this face going.
Juvederm Voluma can be used in many areas of the face and has been on the market for many years. It is a viscous hyaluronic acid filler that can rebuild structure to the face while giving a soft feel and a natural look. As we lose facial fat and dermal thickness, our facial tissues tend to sag down and in causing sagging and fullness centrally and a void in the lateral aspects of our face. During this treatment, Juvederm Voluma was injected into the lateral cheekbone where it meets the hairline. This lifts the cheek all the way back to the hairline as it was positioned in younger days helping reshape the face to a younger, yet natural, shape.
A cannula was used to safely and comfortably add volume in front of the ear, which also gives lift off of the heavier central face to reshape the face to a younger shape. This procedure helps lift aging, sagging tissue collecting centrally around the nose and the mouth corners. The lift is up and out, which takes heaviness off the central face and reshapes the face to a younger oval shape instead of the aging squared-off shape. It improves jowels and adds softness over the lateral cheek bone. Patients are surprised to see that their faces actually look thinner centrally after adding volume laterally. AMAZING!
As with many procedures performed by Dr. McAnalley, this one also makes one look younger but not different. Natural results are key. Most people desire to look like their younger selves without looking like they have had anything done. This procedure achieves that goal. Dr. McAnalley uses numbing ointment and ice to make her patients as comfortable as possible.
The first picture in this post is when I walked in to Dr. McAnalley’s office. The last picture is me two weeks after having Botox and Juvederm Voluma (while enjoying weekend brunch with Pete). The products are in full effect and I am loving the difference! The procedure does not hurt and I was in and out of her office in 30 minutes. She gives you an ice pack for the injections and you can not feel the needle going in. There is no down time and I ran errands after seeing Lynley. Notice in the AFTER picture how my wrinkles are less noticeable and my cheeks look plump and healthy? Just a little goes a long way to a youthful look. And, notice how great Dr. McAnalley looks! I just say “I’ll have what you’re having” when I walk in. I know a facelift is somewhere in my future. Until then, I plan to ward off age with injectables.
Call 214-692-8844 for your appointment. Consultations are complimentary. I highly recommend Dr. Lynley McAnalley for any injectable procedure.
Make it a great day! xoxo – Tanya

About BOTOX BOTOX is a natural, purified protein approved for cosmetic use by the FDA. Injected directly into overactive facial muscles, in very low doses, it relaxes the muscles so they do not contract. This causes the skin to become smooth and unwrinkled. About Juvederm Voluma JUVEDERM VOLUMA is a synthetic hyaluronic acids and are FDA-approved to improve the appearance of facial lines and folds. Hyaluronic acid naturally occurs in our skin to provide volume and fullness. Hyaluronic acid also binds water molecules, which furthers the youthful plumpness it provides our skin. As we age, our skin loses some of its hyaluronic acid as well as soft tissue volume. This loss of volume and hydration causes our skin to appear sunken and wrinkled. Synthetic hyaluronic acids such as Restyalne, Perlane, and Juvederm can mimic the benefits that our own naturally occurring hyaluronic acid provides adding volume and thickness to our skin.
This is a great post , as actually seeing someone we trust getting a little “help from our friends” , it makes it easier to think ” I can do this”. I’ve been to Dr. McAnalley and she is the nicest most down to earth lady and i think your readers would be shocked at her age, but, I’m not telling. she is truly beautiful , inside and out. Thanks for this post! Oh! you look amazing as always.
Thank you!

Tanya, thank you for your honesty. You are so brave to face us naked (I never could). I’m not against women who want to get work done to their face. No judgement (for the most part). But I have to say, I don’t really see that big of a difference. Maybe that’s a good thing. Meaning your doctor didn’t go too crazy. I thought you were a stunning woman to begin with. This posting was very helpful I must say. I’m sure your doctor/friend will tell me my face has dropped also, but I’m ok with that. I’m not ready to get botox/fillers just yet. (mainly becaise I’m afraid of needles).
Also, I’m afraid of looking like many women walking around on the streets of NYC…… way too youthful. Not via their attire but their faces. A lot of woman look noticably different. We cal it FY, forced youth. One of our friends gets it done and she’s only 33yr old. I think (not with you) but when you look at the women, it looks odd because even in their 20’s their cheeks weren’t that full. Only if you’re a fuller figure person would ones face be that full. Or a chubby toddler. No one had cheeks that are full from under their lower lid to almost the jaw line.
This is just one persons opinion who has listened to their mother say for years, the more you try to look young, the older you look. This apple fell far from the tree so talk to me when I hit forty. I could be so pumped with fillers that I look like a blow fish.
Again, you looked great before & as you know, I’m a big fan of your blog. Keep being fashionable & fabulous.

Thanks for your honesty in your comments. I love it.
Yes, my doctor is very conservative with her approach and I only want a gentle lift. Otherwise, you can look like you had cheek implants. And no one wants that. Especially not me.
Thanks so much for following my journey!
Love our blog too!

Shoshana,
I appreciate your comments. My motto is “Look Younger, Not Different!”, and this can be accomplished through a philosophy of the less is more approach. I truly am very conservative and believe that most people can be tremendously satisfied as long as they see improvement in their overall appearance no matter how slight. I too hate the very filled face where the cheek appears to protrude from the lower lash line. These instances are simply examples of too much filler, and perhaps filler placed incorrectly as well. It is important to only replace (at least partially) lost volume while at the same time preserving and actually enhancing the normal, more youthful contours of the face. The goal is not to fill the face like a bowling ball or change one’s look, but to actually make the face look like it did in younger years.
And yes, I agree, there is not a huge difference in Tanya’s face in these pictures with her smiling. The more medical, non-smiling before and after photos demonstrate the little bit of lift up and out that the Juvederm Voluma provided. With Tanya, she starts with a perfect canvas, so I certainly don’t want to change that. She enhances ever so slightly which helps her keep up with the normal aging process, which in her is minimal.
Again, I appreciate you taking the time to read the blog and provide your very astute observations and opinions.
P.S. I hate the big lip thing too!
Dr. McAnalley-
THANK YOU for reading the blog post and leaving a detailed comment. You said much more beautifully what I was trying to say.
And thank you for the lovely compliment.

Great post! I do get Botox as well in my forehead and eyes. I need to try that filler on my chics.
Thanks Kattia!

Wow! This is an amazing result of filler and Botox. The way you explain it with images is also appreciated. Thank you for sharing it.
