Happy Monday and Happy National Leggings Day! You heard that right….a day where we need to wear leggings to celebrate. I will gladly participate in the festivities! Another way to celebrate is to treat yourself to a new pair. Chico’s has a new line of leggings and they are SO cute. Be sure and shop their selection HERE. So for today I want to look at how to style a simple black dress for fall. I’ll give you a hint: sometimes more is more! Watch how I layer accessories to take this black maxi dress from simple to over the top fabulous!
How to Style a Simple Black Dress for Fall
Let’s start by looking at one of my favorite black dresses for fall. This long-sleeved jersey maxi dress will be your new favorite black dress for fall. It is so comfortable and the perfect weight for the season. I love the side slits and V-neckline for some flirty details. I wear a size S in the dress.
Now, how do you elevate your simple black dress? More is more! I added all of the layers and accessories to give this dress a southwestern chic vibe. So let’s start with layers. Since this dress is maxi length, it goes great with a poncho or wrap. How gorgeous is this pleated poncho (size S/M)? The pleated fabric gives it a graceful elegance. I also love the neutral color block design and the fringe edges. If you want to define the waistline, add this faux leopard belt. A patterned belt always adds fun texture to a look. Or, just wear it open and let it flow. Now just add suede boots and we’re ready for the next layer of accessories.
If you’re going to be outside, you definitely need to sport this brown wool bolero hat. Talk about a fall vibe! Just don’t forget the sunglasses. As far as purses go, I recommend this convertible crossbody bag. This bag can be a wallet, a clutch or a crossbody bag. So versatile! Lastly, add some gorgeous jewelry to your look like this brown strap watch, charm bracelet, gold ring, and gold stud earrings. I told you – sometimes more is more in the fashion world!
How do you like to style a simple black dress for fall? Make it a great day and Happy National Leggings Day (rhyme unintended 😉 ). xoxo – Tanya
P.S. Be sure to check out this new REEL I created for this dress. Lordy, these are hard to create.
