Good morning! A couple of weeks ago, Pete and I went to visit family in Naples, Florida, and it was amazing. It was so good to travel and feel normal again (although we are still operating in a pandemic world). Today I’m detailing where to eat, shop what to do and what I packed for this trip. Let’s head to the beach…
Naples is on the southwest coast of Florida and is an easy trip. It’s on the Gulf of Mexico and has a population of around 21,000. The people are super friendly and welcoming. You’ll find a lot of folks who have retired to this town and many own their second home in Naples. Everything has a sophisticated yet relaxed vibe. And, there’s plenty of sunshine!
GETTING THERE: You will fly into Ft. Myers airport. Dallas has a non-stop flight from DFW with American Airlines. From the airport, Naples is a short 30 minute drive south on highway 41. Ft. Myers is also a lovely place to stay. I’ve been there several times for brand meetings and trips. Surrounding areas are Bonita Springs, Sanibel Island, Marco Island and Keewaydin Island.
STAY: La Playa Resort, Ritz Carlton Naples, The Inn on 5th (downtown), Naples Grande Beach Resort, Inn at pelican Bay, Edgewater Beach Resort and Naples Bay Resort & Marina are all great. These are all in the Naples area.
EAT: There are so many great places to eat in Naples and surrounding areas. The seafood at every location was so fresh! Here are just a few: The French, Sea Salt, Campiello, The Turtle Club, Sails Restaurant, USS Nemo, Jimmy P’s Charred, The Bay House, Bar Tulia, The Local and Ridgway Bar & Grill. Sit outside when you can. It’s glorious! Also, my followers on Instagram told me to stop and get a sub at Publix. I thought that was kind of weird until I did it. Publix is the local grocery store and their deli subs are delicious! The bread is fresh baked and you can tell. YUM. I got the Italian sub but apparently the Chicken Tender sub is amazing. Who knew?
DO: Shopping, boating (there are several great marinas), fishing, visit the Naples Pier, (first erected in 1888), head to any of the beautiful beaches with fine white sand (Naples Beach and Vanderbilt Beach are where the pictures were taken), drive down Gordan Way and admire the multi-million dollar homes that have ocean views and just walk around downtown Naples.
Lunch at The French. Delicious!
The Italian Sub from Publix. You just have to try it!

The seafood was really great. At two restaurants, Salt and Ridgeway Bar and Grill, I had the best swordfish I have ever eaten! Great trip, great company, and, as usual, fun with Tanya – love her so much. So many great pictures.
