I know we have all heard of the term ‘fast fashion,’ but what about ‘slow fashion’? Well, today I want to introduce to you an Italian brand that supports this slow fashion movement. Marta Scarampi is founded on the belief that handmade, quality pieces are the only way to shop. Let’s take a closer look at some of my favorite timeless pieces of theirs.
So, what does ‘slow fashion’ mean exactly? Marta Scarampi does not begin constructing your garment until after ordering. You pick a silhouette and color and then their team will begin hand crafting your order. Patience is a virtue, because this means it will take roughly two weeks to receive your garment. It is worth it to receive a beautiful and well-fitted piece. Also, this business model actually keeps the price low and the quality high. It also reduces waste and over-ordering, unlike most fashion brands.
I originally discovered this Italian brand from my friends and former photographer, Mary Hafner. She just collaborated with Marta Scarampi to create the MSxMary Hafner colleciton. This beautiful line is what got me started on the brand! After seeing the collection, I immediately had to have one of their garments. I ordered the Mary shirt in white linen and will be wearing on repeat. It is a classic piece that will never go out of style. These beautiful, high-quality pieces will stand the test of time, so it is worth spending a little more than normal.
Another Marta Scarampi piece I ordered is the Elena dress. I will be wearing it all spring and summer long! The gorgeous baby blue color I am wearing above was just released yesterday, but it comes in many color options. The fitted bodice and waist make for a very flattering silhouette. I also love the chic ruffle and button details. It is a great dress to wear for this upcoming Mother’s Day. I wear a size US 6/IT 42.
