What would make five bloggers jump in a car and head to Tyler, Texas for lunch? A fabulous new restaurant – The Grove. Check out what we discovered and why I can’t wait to head back.

The Grove Kitchen and Gardens is a fresh, farm to table family style restaurant that resides in the heart of Tyler, Texas. Now you might remember that I have a little history with this beautiful little city in east Texas. I attended Tyler Junior College to be an Apache Belle and then completed my college education at the University of North Texas. Back then, there was nothing like this amazing restaurant behind the piney curtain. Just a short hour and a half drive east from Dallas, you will find this restaurant to be worth the road trip. Open every day, the menus offer many selections sourced from local growers and the menu changes seasonally. I first mentioned The Grove in this blog post about Texas travel destinations.

Need a place for dinner or a large event? No problem. There is an indoor restaurant, outdoor seating area, a grab-n-go shop, a gorgeous bar lounge, the smoke shack for delicious BBQ, a beautiful event space, an outdoor area with a stage and ample acreage to roam around. You can have a private event for up to 200 in this beautiful location. Our lunch with the executive chef was delicious and we loved sampling his creations. My blogger buddies included Brooke Burnett – One Small Blonde, Cathy Williamson – The Middle Page, Heather Anderson – So Heather and Tiffany Davros – Street Style Squad. Be sure to check out their blogs too!

We had so much fun that the day flew by and it was time to hop back in the car and head back to Big D. It’s a super easy drive on I-20 so you know we will go again. Perhaps we will try dinner next time. If you are in east Texas or just need a little road trip, I highly recommend trying The Grove!
