White tee / Paige denim shorts / Red & White sweater (so lightweight and soft – ONLY $18!) / Red lace up sandals (also come in light pink) / Hat / Sunglasses (silver/silver) / Goyard tote (similar style here for much less) / Tumi luggage
This May craziness has me wanting to plan a trip and get out-of-town pronto! We’ve got a son graduating from college and a daughter getting married – all in May! Can you say “VACATION”? Seems like a good time to talk about easy travel style.
If you are here daily, you will remember the post earlier this week about 10 NEW Things about Disney World. This is one of the looks I packed for the trip. A reader asked me this question recently, “As we get older, should we order our shorts in larger sizes?” My answer to that is NO. You don’t need to go up a size but perhaps consider wearing longer shorts. My “daisy duke short shorts” days are long over but I do love a longer short like these from Paige Denim. They cover everything, have a little stretch in them and are super comfortable. Paige Denim always fits me true to size. I layered this fantastic white tee with a red and white lightweight sweater from H&M. Y’all it’s only $18! It’s perfect for the plane because you can wrap it around you or if it gets too cold, put it on. Did I mention its ONLY $18? Get two!
Now let’s talk about these shoes. I ordered them thinking I wouldn’t like them because surely they would be uncomfortable. WRONG! The leather is really soft and they are super comfortable. They also come in a light pink and I might just order those too. I’ll be in them all summer long. Imagine how chic they will be with a white maxi dress!
When I travel on a plane, I always have a large tote bag and my Tumi luggage. Both are sturdy and keep everything I need to have with me. The one in the pictures above is the carry-on and fits in the overhead compartment. We have them in all sizes and find that they really hold up well. My tote bag carries my laptop, iPhone, all chargers, wallet, make-up case and a smaller crossbody bag. Everything I need to have handy while traveling.
I like to have a casual yet pulled together look when I travel because when I land, I hit the ground running. Be sure to check out this TV segment I just did this week on Good Morning Texas. We talked about wrinkle free travel style and luggage. You will see the fantastic sweater that I had on yesterday in this blog post.
What’s your travel style? xoxo – Tanya

I definitely need those shorts. Perfect length to not be too exposed or stick to chairs, but still feel cool in the Texas heat. Sweater is a great layering idea for those times where the AC is freezing and then it’s a zillion degrees in a car!
thank you for posting.
One of the big things I like about Tumi (from “the husband’s” perspective) is that they actually repair their luggage. In the last year I’ve taken it to the Tumi store and had the tang on the zipper replaced (right in the store) and they sent off the roller bag (pictured) to fix a hinge that had become unhinged. Good as new several years later.
I love your outfit. I too no longer wear my “Daisy Duke” shorts – at least not out in public. Your suitcase and travel bags on the sidewalk are great – looks like you’re ready to get in a car to start your vacation.
