News flash: I like fashion and when it combines with a fun luncheon event and benefits a great non-profit organization you have my attention. I have picked the 32nd annual Saint Valentine’s Day Luncheon & Fashion Show as my “hot ticket” event for February.
Full disclosure: I am serving on the host committee this year because two of my favorite people are co-chairing this event. My dear friends Gina Betts and Michael Flores (yes, the Michael Flores salon guru and master of my mane) are behind this years event. Not familiar with this event happening on February 16th? Here is the run down. The event is held at the Myerson Symphony Center and you need to dress your best (Hint: Valentine’s Day chic). Before the fashion show starts, there is a brief program that highlights the work of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The money raised this year is expected to put the total amount raised by this event past $10 million. During the program three individuals will be honored. The Lynda Adleta Heart of Gold Award goes to George Alden Ryan, a leukemia survivor. The Spirit of Tom Landry Award goes to Luke Lange, a ten-year old lymphoma survivor. Although he beat lymphoma he continues to work and advocate on behalf of other children who are still in treatment. Finally, the Memorial Hero Award goes to Edgar A. Robinson, who passed away from leukemia twelve years ago. He dedicated his life to philanthropy and his family has continued his lead by supporting LLS and investing heavily in the research LLS is currently funding. Highland Park Village is the fashion show sponsor and is working with Jan Strimple to create an incredible show featuring several designers with stores in Highland Park Village. Once the show is over, guests retreat to the foyer for a delicious seated luncheon.
