It’s the most wonderful time of the year. Or is it? Are you ready for the holidays? Is anyone ever ready? It never seems to play out the way it does on TV or in film. In my mind, it should be just like it is on a soap opera. A lot of sparkle, shine and glamour. Somehow it never seems to end that way.
Who does all the shopping for the holidays? ME Who makes all the plans? ME Who coordinates every thing? ME But you know what? It’s because I am a bit of a control freak and like to be in charge. And that way, the plan is according to me.
While wrapping gifts this year (my husband wraps all the gift boxes that I tagged and I put on the bows and make them pretty) I noticed that we were running low on wrapping paper. Do you know why? It’s because we have finally come down to the last roll of Sally Foster gift wrap. My children sold this as a fundraiser every year they were in elementary school at Hyer. Mind you, they are now in college and a senior in high school. Clearly, I purchased enough to be stocked in wrapping paper for many years. Wrapping the last gift in this paper was bitter-sweet. It’s the end of an era.
I also noticed something different this year. I mail 200+ Christmas cards out annually. It seems that I don’t always get a card back. And I am also receiving cards from folks that I don’t mail one to. Do people reconcile their Christmas card list? Maybe I need to look in to that.
In any case, whatever your holiday traditions are, may you enjoy them with family, friends and plenty of bubbly. Merry, Merry!
