I just got home from a quick weekend trip to Richmond, Virginia with dear friends. The fall color was spectacular and I am reminded that these changing colors mean one thing – the holidays are around the corner. When asked where I find my inspiration for the blog, it occurred to me that I read a lot of magazines. In fact, I just read the December issue of Marie Claire and this look is inspired by some of the top fashion looks illustrated throughout the magazine.
But first, let’s talk about super gorgeous cover girl Amber Heard (a.k.a. Mrs. Johnny Depp). I loved reading the article about her on page 160. Did you know the actress if from Texas? And here’s a fun fact for you. We had her at the Dallas International Film Festival in 2010 for the film The Joneses. She was beautiful, charming and I could tell she had the “it” factor. The article captures her spirit and style perfectly.
The magazine is chock full of holiday gift ideas, beauty products and holiday looks. If you glance at page 106 you will see a beautifully curated page of black and white pieces in their “Luxe for Less” ideas. This black skirt from Lands’ End (only $49), Stephanie Kantis silver bracelet and Madewell faux fur coat are my favorites in their line up. Pairing these pieces together inspired me to style these black and cream items for this holiday outfit. This look pairs the Ann Taylor pleated flare dress (comes in red too) with the cream Ann Taylor wrap tie coat, my favorite neutral Valentino rock studs (less expensive option here), animal print clutch and simple accessories. This look is perfect for the holiday luncheon or party.

My look was inspired by the December issue of Marie Claire. Where do you get your inspiration?
Happy Monday. Who is excited for a short week? xoxo- Tanya
