Isn’t it funny how friendships ebb and flow throughout our lives? Alicia Wood is one of my dearest friends. We met in the late 90’s through our Junior League of Dallas committee. I was chairing the Auction & Casino party and she was the incredible graphic artist and invitations chairman. She is so creative that when she was describing the invitation design to me, I literally had no idea what she was talking about. This lead to me stopping by her house and her showing it to me on her computer. Of course her home was beautifully decorated and my then five year old kindergartener got to play with her dog Ellie. Fast forward to 2014. She and her husband now have three beautiful girls and I am an empty nester (that five year old kindergartener is now a junior in college). In fact, when Taylor pledged KKG, it was Alicia that went to her initiation. They share that beautiful sisterhood.

Our charity connections have always intertwined through many projects including the Junior League of Dallas Ball, the Genesis Mother’s Day Luncheon, Cattle Baron’s Ball, Crystal Charity Ball and too many other projects to count. She is incredibly creative, organized, dependable and a true friend. Look up the word leadership in the dictionary and you will find a picture of Alicia.

So, it is no surprise that when she mentioned she might like to blog, I said go for it. Alicia has always loved cooking and had a juicer before anyone else knew what one was. If you open her refrigerator it looks like the produce section at Central Market. She deals with several food allergies in her family and has researched how to cook, eat out and travel while making sure everyone eats well. So, it’s natural that The Lush List was born!

On this day, Alicia invited me over for lunch and served this delicious salad. You can find the recipe today on The Lush List. There is nothing better than just a great day of friendship, food and fun getting caught up. I think you can tell that we have no problem talking and giggling. I am grateful for Alicia and our beautiful friendship – she’s like the sister I never had.

I hope you are blessed with many friendships too. xoxo- Tanya
