Happy Wednesday! Today I am finally introducing my new assistant. Drum roll please… Meet Ramsey Pittman. She is working here at TanyaFoster.com and is quickly making things much more efficient. It takes a lot for a self proclaimed perfectionist to delegate some of the tasks behind the blog but I can honestly say, Ramsey is doing it beautifully.
First of all, I am grateful that anyone would want to work for me. It’s not the easiest task. You work in my home, have to love dogs and our new kitten Ruby Lou, be willing to multi-task and realize that no two days are the same. So when I interviewed Ramsey, she seemed willing to learn the back end of blogging (the technical part) and eager to dive right in. Not to mention that I’ve got a chaotic schedule and I’m not always home in my office to train the newbie. Let me tell you what – this girl was ready to rock n’ roll!
What I love about working with young people is that they bring such a great perspective and energy to any project I’m working on. Ramsey is the same age as my children so in a way, I get to have two age demographics to incorporate into the blog and social media. What I think is hip and current, she might think is dull and done. And that is a great opinion to consider when writing blog posts! Here’s what she’s working on for TanyaFoster.com. Blog prep and research – this includes doing some due diligence on topics you all request, shipping and receiving, steaming clothes and prepping for shoot days, helping on shoot days with behind the scenes work, pulling clothes and accessories for projects, running errands, walking Sparky and Max (they LOVE her!) and managing my Poshmark account. That’s where gently used clothes, shoes and accessories go for SALE. You might want to check it out. I clean out my closet often and it has to go somewhere.
I styled our shoot and decided that Talbots and Barrington were the perfect brands to feature for this blog post. Why? Because both brands are timeless and classic! Since Barrington lets you completely design and personalize your selection, I let Ramsey design her St. Anne tote bag. I love the animal print with bright stripe and monogram. It’s so fresh! Mine is the same bag but with a different pattern. We both love our bags because your laptop computer will fit in it and it’s the perfect purse, travel bag and tote all in one. Plus, we have all of our stuff in these bags for shoot days. Accessories, hair ties, hair spray, make-up… everything fits in the St. Anne tote.
Our Talbots looks are both linked for you at the bottom of this post. It’s funny, we selected our outfits separately, yet chose similarly. How cute are my light blue loafers with a bumble bee on them? I’ve already gotten so many compliments! For size reference, Ramsey is a size 2 and I am a size 6. We are both wearing a size Medium tee – I like mine fitted and tucked in, Ramsey likes hers loose and easy. Regardless, Talbots is one of those classic brands where anyone, regardless of age, can find great pieces. Fashion tip: If you have a great scarf but don’t want to wear it, tie it on your bag. So chic!
Ramsey is working about 20 hours per week and it’s already been a huge help. You might wonder what I’m doing since she is getting so much done. Well, let’s see… E-mail, brand phone calls, negotiating agreements and contracts, meetings, social media, shopping and pulling items for future collaborations, writing blog posts and editing the ones she preps and just trying to cram it all in to 24 hours each day. You might be shocked by this but in the 5 years I’ve been doing this job, I have never had time to pitch myself to brands. Yep, that’s right. I’ve done all of my brand sponsored content based on the brand coming to me. Imagine the possibilities now that I might have time to forecast and strategically partner with brands that have never contacted me. My mind is blown with the possibilities!
I asked Ramsey to share 5 things about herself so that you can get to know her a little more today. Here is what she had to say. I think you will find that I did indeed hired a rare gem. How lucky am I?
- I had the best four years as a Baylor Kappa. Tanya’s daughter Taylor was actually my grandbig and still one of my good friends!
- I interned in New York City for Rebecca Minkoff, who really inspires my style. My other inspirations are Valentino and Delpozo. I also look to Alexa Chung, Kiernan Shipka, and Blair Eadie for styling ideas.
- My favorite place I’ve visited is London. I just LOVE European style!
- I love anything and everything pink!
- My favorite place to be is my church, Watermark! It’s easily one of my biggest blessings.
I live by this mantra which I stated in the Fearless Woman Podcast: “Lay A Plan & Work Your Plan“. It’s what I live by in anything I do. Click here to listen if you haven’t already done so. I’m excited that Ramsey is here to help me “work my plan”.
xoxo – Tanya
P.S. In case you are wondering, her initials “CRP” are for Cary Ramsey Pittman.
