There’s a certain sophistication that goes with attending a fashion show and luncheon at the flagship Neiman Marcus store located in downtown Dallas. Add top designer Prabal Gurung and a trend setting fashion show styled by Ken Downing and you have a perfect day.
Prabal Gurung launched his collection in 2009 with a philosophy encompassing modern luxury, indelible style and a sense of glamour. He was born in Singapore and raised in Kathmandu, Nepal. After beginning his design career in New Delhi he moved to New York to finish his studies at Parsons The New School for Design. Upon graduating, Gurung spent two years with Cynthia Rowley’s design and production teams. Soon after, he was appointed design director at the iconic Bill Blass, a post he held for five years until launching his own collection, PRABAL GURUNG.
A focus on quality and innovation has placed Gurung at the forefront of American fashion with designs worn by leading ladies including First Lady Michelle Obama and The Duchess of Cambridge, to name a few. He is also popular with the Hollywood set and in fact the beautiful white and yellow sequin dress in the top photo caught the eye of Charlize Theron. In case you see it on the red carpet, you heard it here first.
The fashion show of Prabal’s spring 2016 collection was absolutely divine. I loved sitting next to him during lunch and getting caught up about all things New York City, his family in Nepal and the number one thing he learned while at Bill Blass – impeccable detail to design. I love that he calls his mother every day on his way to work. His sister is an assistant director making Bollywood films. What a creative family!
Thank you to Neiman Marcus for hosing such a lovely event for me and my guests to attend. I have linked you to some of my favorite pieces currently available at the store and online (many of them are on SALE). They are perfect for the holidays or a cocktail party. Just click the pictures below.
Enjoy a little luxury! xoxo- Tanya
