Pete and I recently did a little staycation just north of Dallas at the Omni PGA Frisco Resort. Even though we don’t play golf, there is plenty to do at this fabulous resort. Even though its not far away, you almost feel like you are in the Texas hill country. The resort features 500 beautiful guest rooms and suites and 10 exclusive ranch houses. Want to golf? They’ve got you covered at Fields Ranch – two 18-hole championship courses designed by acclaimed golf course architects Gil Hanse and Beau Welling. Practice on a 2-acre putting course, continue after dark at The Swing, a lighted 10-hole, par-3 short course, and find more fun off the fairway at the Monument Realty PGA District nearby.Need more to do? There are four onsite pools, including an adults-only rooftop infinity pool on the 6th floor, rejuvenating treatments at Mokara Spa and endless options at 13 dining destinations. While we enjoyed it as a staycation weekend for adults, it’s certainly family friendly with plenty to do.
Our staycation favorites
500 guest rooms & suites and 10 ranch houses
We stayed in a one bedroom suite with a plush king-size bed that featured luxury bedding. From the extra-large floorplan and separate sleeping accommodations to the living spaces that are perfect for mingling and entertaining, this suite perfect for our couples getaway. The bathroom was enormous and featured a lovely walk in shower and huge bathtub. There is plenty of room to spread out and enjoy views from the balcony overlooking the golf course.

Mokara Spa
You don’t need to ask me twice to go to a spa. I’ll happily try spa treatments! Mokara Spa offers a 24/7 fitness center, private spa pool and healthy meal offerings at Green Cactus Café. This of course is in addition to a tranquil oasis and endless spa treatment options. We both enjoyed a rejuvenating facial featuring luxury skincare products and a personalized prescriptive massage. Each of our services were 50 minutes in length giving us plenty of time to enjoy the steam sauna, dry sauna and quiet/relaxation room. You can even enjoy the Mokara Spa as a day guest if you are not staying at the resort.

Four onsite pools & private cabanas
Since our staycation was a couples trip, we spent our time at the adults-only pool. The adults-only infinity pool, offers panoramic views overlooking the lush fairways of Fields Ranch. Pool lounge chairs, cabanas and a hot tub provide a serene place to escape under big Texas skies with a cocktail from Bluestem Bar in-hand. We had a lovely private cabana to enjoy some much needed shade and refreshments. You can also watch TV in your cabana and order food.

13 Dining Destinations
Let’s talk food! There’s plenty to choose from with 13 dining options. We enjoyed a casual dinner on Friday night at Ryder Cup Grille, bar food & drinks at Bluestream Bar at the adults-only pool, room service, a fabulous dinner on Saturday night at Trick Rider (reservations recommended) and Sunday brunch at The Apron. Everything we ordered was delicious! We highly recommend having dinner at Trick Rider whether you are staying at the resort or not. Be sure to admire the Swarovski crystal horse installation over the bar. It’s over 4,000 pieces and took 3 weeks to install!

Two 18-hole championship golf courses
Did you know that The PGA of America is headquartered here? Yep! Like I said, Pete and I don’t play golf but this certainly was enticing us to learn. Click HERE for more Omni PGA Frisco Resort golf details.
Whew! That about covers it. Getting away from your regular routine even if it’s just a short jaunt away is always good for the soul! What’s your favorite staycation?

I’d love to stay at your resort.
The lit par3 course sounds like fun as does the other courses. May wing by when in Dallas, no pun intended
