Occasionally, I book collaborations that bring together the business of blogging, video and print model work. This campaign is one of those occasions. I thought it would be fun to show you how this video turned out and the three looks they styled me in for the Summer Style Shoot. Let’s go behind the scenes…

It’s fun when all my worlds collide and allow me to do video and style shoots. Usually those are booked through my agent at The Campbell Agency. But when the client wants the “influencer” component, they get booked through PR firms and influencer agencies. Blah, Blah, Blah… I know you don’t care about the nitty gritty of how all of this works. Moving on…
JCPenney approached me to collaborate on styling three summer style looks as well as having my hair done at the Salon by InStyle inside JCPenney. Kellie Ferraro was the hair stylist for this shoot. Oddly enough, I did another campaign with them about the salon that comes out in September (that was the overnight shoot that just about did me in – more about that later). They also did my make-up with Sephora inside JC Penney. Myiesha Sewell was my Sephora Beauty Director for this shoot. The reason I tell you this is because usually I do my own hair and make-up for blog posts. But when you are on set, there are people for that. As well as a producer, director, copy writer, art director, stylist, assistant stylist, tailor, lighting and sound crew and tons of other crew members. Not to mention, the brand is there to make sure the overall messaging is being met.
If you are wondering why the pictures look different than normal it’s because these are screen grabs from the video shoot. We actually didn’t shoot any pictures with a camera that day as the collaboration they hired me for was the video. So basically what I am showing you in today’s blog post is a little behind the scenes. You can view the final video here.
This was an eight hour shoot day that we shot on June 3 in Dallas. My call time (when the talent arrives) was 8:00 AM and I wrapped around 5:00 PM. It was a hot, muggy day that day and the hair stylist was constantly having to re-curl one side of my hair because it kept falling. We actually shot this summer style shoot in reverse order so that I could do the outdoor work before the afternoon heat set in. The styling and talking points were all shot inside the studio at the end of the day. Through the magic of post production and editing, you have the final video.
I have to say, I love doing this type of work! I especially love to see how other people style me. You can find all the selections, styling products and make-up from this video shoot linked below. Many of the clothing selections come in lots of colors. Everything I am wearing fits true to size (I’m wearing size 6 or small/medium; shoes are 8 1/2).
What do you think about the summer style video? Want to see more work like this?
