If you are looking for a beautiful hill country getaway to unwind and reinvigorate, I’ve found it – La Cantera Resort & Spa in San Antonio, Texas. Pete and I just returned from a little R & R and we’ve got all the scoop on this magnificent destination. Whether you love a good spa, want to relax by the pool or play a round of golf, this destination has it all. While we seek out adult vacations, La Cantera is also family friendly. Good News! They are offering my subscribers and followers 15% OFF their best available room offer.
Pete and I are not golfers so for us there are a few key things we look for in a resort – a great spa, restaurants and an adult only pool. If it’s near a city with things to do, that’s a bonus! La Cantera Resort & Spa has all of these things and more. We did a quick trip last week and highly recommend the destination because its both beautiful and an easy property to get to. It’s on the north side of San Antonio, which is a city with lots to offer. While we travel with an empty nester mindset, this luxury property is also very family friendly.
We stayed in SEVEN, which is the resorts adult only guest floor. Here you will find limited capacity, a private concierge lounge filled with snacks, breakfast, cocktail hour and much more, elevated bath products and a Nespresso machine in your room. It also offers complimentary valet parking and private check-in service. We did everything on that floor and never dealt with the lobby. These rooms are accessed by a separate elevator. Luxury at its finest! It also made our stay effortless as everything was just down the hall on our floor.
Loma de Vida Spa & Wellness is one of the more tranquil spas I’ve been to. We both enjoyed all of the facilities and amenities of the spa one morning and then indulged in 60 minute Swedish massages. I added a 60 minute Radiance facial and thoroughly enjoyed that my services were back to back, allowing me to stay in the same treatment room for two hours. Heaven! There are saunas, indoor pools, an outdoor pool and a beautiful spa shop. I loved the serene walk to the spa facilities. You hear running water everywhere you go which immediately puts you at ease.
We had dinner at Sweet Fire Kitchen which has a southern menu. Think fried green tomatoes, cornbread with hot butter and honey, steaks, truffle fries and much more. There are more restaurants on property but our other meals were in our private cabana at Topaz (adult pool). Once you have one of these cabanas for the day, it makes it hard to leave.
There are several pools at La Cantera but we spent all of our time at Topaz. Renting a private cabana was well worth it! It comes with a TV, blue tooth sound system, a safe, a mini refrigerator stocked with still and sparkling water and a waiter who took care of our every need. We ordered lunch, snacks and lots of delicious frozen drinks. Below you will see the Mango Margarita and the Cucumber Giblet – so refreshing on a hot day. The infinity pool overlooks the beautiful Texas hill country. And yes, we ordered Veuve Cliquot Champagne because… why not?
We had so much fun and can’t wait to return. Personally, I suggest a four day/three night stay to get in enough R & R. There are lots of activities for both adults and kids. It also has two world class golf courses. There’s also a fitness center. Basically, we never left the property.

I really have to put this on my to do list for when I move back to Texas! Looks amazing!
LaCantera sounds like a little slice of paradise. Was this the same trip as the stop at Cooper’s BBQ in Llano? Transportation provided by PILOT PETE?
Two different trips. That way I get to fly more.
