I decided to hire the services of a food photographer to share with your some of my best recipes, take a look to the differences options I listed below:
There is nothing that makes this whole social distancing season more bearable than the ultimate happy hour at home. If you follow me on Instagram, then you know that I have been spoiled with the best happy hours in DFW – all from the comforts of my home. Thanks to a creative pop-up concept, happy hour can be delivered right to your doorstep – with contactless delivery! It’s almost Labor Day Weekend, so it’s the perfect time to relax with these happy hour specials. Order now – they always sell out!
Some of you may be familiar with Barsotti Restaurants in DFW. They own restaurants Nonna, Sprezza, Carbone’s, Fachini and The Food Company catering. After the pandemic hit, business partners Julian Barsotti and Glen Collins pivoted brilliantly and used The Food Company’s kitchen to create the margarita and queso pop-up concept called Ritas & Queso. All it is is a half gallon of margarita (frozen or rocks), queso, chips, cups and a lime. That’s it! But honestly in late March and April when all restaurants were closed, nothing sounded better. Just recently they added Watermelon margaritas and I decided to get both and make a swirl. The watermelon is fresh squeezed and so refreshing.
Their happy hour delivery service boomed, so they created another new company. The Grape Ape DFW is their latest creation, which offers Frosé, vino and Italian eats. This one is more of a full dinner and it’s delicious! Today I want to dive into the details of both of the happy hour and meal kits that these companies offer. Available for delivery or pick-up, the food and drinks are always safely prepared and delivered. Can it be Friday already? It’s 5 o’clock somewhere…
Ritas & Queso
Ritas & Queso seriously delivers the ultimate happy hour to your home. Their margaritas and queso are to die for. Currently, they are also offering seasonal watermelon margaritas. They are so good and made with fresh watermelons! My tip is to get the frozen margaritas versus on the rocks. Also, be sure to use a lime to salt the rim of your glass. This makes it extra tasty. Here is a detailed breakdown of the kits:
The $55 Standard Kit
- 1/2 Gallon Jug-O-Ritas
- 16 oz Queso
- 8 oz Oven Roasted Salsa
- Bag of Chips
- Lime, Cups and Straws
The $75 Family Meal Kit
- Full Standard Kit
- Stacked Classic Tex-Mex Enchiladas
Ordering is available Monday-Saturday from 10AM-8PM. You can either order online or call in. The delivery window is Monday-Saturday from 2-6PM and pick-up is from 11AM-6PM. I definitely recommend ordering early because they sell out. BONUS: They now have Fort Worth Fridays! If you are in the Fort Worth area, order your Ritas & Queso kit.

The Grape Ape DFW
The Grape Ape DFW is perfect if you’re in the mood for an Italian happy hour/dinner at home. You may be wondering why an ape has anything to do with Italian food… it definitely does not involve primates! In Italian, ‘ape’ is actually a three-wheeled car that can be used for delivery… and in this case, it’s delivering happy hour (and dinner)! The Grape Ape makes incredible Frosé that pairs perfectly with their Antipasto dish. They also offer Chianti Reserva if you are not in the cocktail mood. Here is a detailed breakdown of the kits:
The $65 Standard Kit:
- 1/2 Gallon of Frosé OR a Bottle of Chianti Classico Reserva
- Antipasto: House Whipped Ricotta, Roasted Sweet-Italian Peppers, Spicy Olives, Marinated Artichokes, Salami Piccante, Prosciutto Americano
- Garlic Bread
- Timbale of Arbiquina Extra Virgin Olive Oil
The $105 Family Meal Kit:
- Full Standard Kit
- Baked Ziti alla Vodka with Meatballs di Famiglia (vegetarian option available)
- Caesar Salad
The $120 Family Meal Kit:
- Full Standard Kit
- 200-Layer Lasagna
- Caesar Salad
You can order by phone Monday-Saturday from 10AM-5PM. The delivery window is Monday-Saturday from 2-6PM and pick-up is from 12-6PM.

Which kit are you going to try? I’ve had them all and my quarantine weight gain was well worth it! Who is ready to Frosé All Day?

P.S. Use any leftover frozen beverage and serve it in this Tervis tumbler by the pool! You can find it in this blog post.
Mmmm….frose! Well, anything frozen during a Texas Summer. Hahaha! The antipasto sounds great too.
Moving to Dallas!!!
Pete (Scavone) Foster approved. I usually make my own Italian dishes, but the baked ziti is definitely worth the calories!!!
