Happy Tuesday! Is everyone having a good week so far? Well, it’s a good time to start thinking about your weekend plans, and I have the perfect idea for you. Laura and I were fortunate enough to attend the press preview for the Van Gogh Exhibit Dallas, and it is AMAZING. Today, let’s look at some behind the scenes shots and tell you what the experience is like. Get your tickets HERE before they sell out!
Before we dive in to our amazing experience, I want to highlight our looks. You don’t need to dress up for this exhibit. We just both decided to wear these dresses since it was a hot summer day. This pink tired ruffle dress is apart of a new line at Avara, and I am in love! It’s the perfect late summer dress. I am in a size S. I wore the dress with these Steve Madden lace-up sandals and this Longchamp mini tote bag. Laura is wearing a denim wrap dress and white sneakers.

Behind the Scenes Look at the Van Gogh Exhibit Dallas
Of course you have to be greeted by this iconic self-portrait of Van Gogh himself. They also have a brief description of the highs and lows of his life. The whole exhibit is based off of the seasons of his life, so you feel a sense of winter, spring, summer and fall as the experience plays out.
The exhibit begins as you enter into a room with Van Gogh’s paintings projected on the walls, while listening to a matching soundtrack. It is a complete 360 degree experience. The mirrors stationed in the center of the first room (pictured above) create an even deeper sense of wonder and complete immersion. The entire exhibit is three rooms. I recommend that you walk and roam through the various spaces to experience the show from all angles. The show is about a 40 minute run time, but I encourage you to stay and watch the presentation more than once. There is so much to see that you can’t see it all in one showing. I was so overwhelmed at first that I really had to sit down and just take it all in. It’s mesmerizing!
As you can see, the second room is not only covered in projections on the walls, but also on the floor. No matter where you look, you see a different perspective of a famous painting. It’s like you are walking in his paintings! Laura climbed the stairs in the second room to get an arial view. If you’re wondering, she loved it as much as I did.
My favorite view was looking from the second room into the third room (pictured above). You can walk around, sit on benches, or stand and observe. The graphic design team that created this show are on another level. The transitions between the paintings and the skill it takes to make them come to life is incredible.
You can’t go to a Van Gogh Exhibit without experiencing the iconic Starry Night. There is nothing more breathtaking than being completely immersed in the image. This alone is worth the price of admission. And of course, Laura and I had to take a photo to recreate the scene from Emily and Paris 😉 If you don’t know what I’m talking about click HERE to view the clip. Don’t forget to check out my Paris blog post too.
