Don’t get scared when you see scissors next to this beautiful bridal gown. Today I am partnering with Watters to show you how you can customize one of their gorgeous designs into a stunning rehearsal dress. Chop, chop!

Early on in the bridal gown selection process, Taylor wanted to go very traditional. We decided to have her wedding gown custom created with Patti Flowers Design long before we were introduced to the Watters team to select the bridesmaids dresses (blog post here). They design and create the most stunning wedding dresses, bridesmaids dresses and wedding accessories. In fact, there are three divisions – Watters, Wtoo and Willowby. All are headquartered in Dallas. While shooting the bridesmaids selection story for the blog, they asked if Taylor would be interested in a rehearsal dress. Um… YES!

We met with the design team at Watters and they had a rack of bridal gowns for Taylor to try on. She wanted to select something that was completely opposite of her traditional wedding gown and could be altered to a short cocktail dress. We quickly landed on the Savannah dress. They took her measurements and ordered the ivory dress with nude lining in her size. The gown is made of Ruca Lace and features an off-the-shoulder neckline and fit-and-flare silhouette. It buttons up the back, which add polish and functionality.

Once the dress came in, we went back for a fitting and design meeting with Elias Gutierrez. Fun fact: Elias is the Wtoo by Watters designer and actually designed this dress for the fall 2016 collection. The design team had just returned from Asia and we got to hear fun stories about the design meetings abroad. The food stories were the best part of their travel diaries! Elias and Taylor worked together to come up with the hem length and then he quickly got after it with the scissors (while she still had the dress on)! She went back for a final fitting and the masterpiece was finished!

The Savannah gown is certainly stunning in its original length and any bride would be beautiful in it. But for our event, Taylor wanted a fun cocktail dress with a hem length above the knee. Elias perfectly customized it to fulfill her wishes and its a modern take on this breathtaking lace dress.

We have enjoyed getting to know all the special people at Watters that have been so helpful to us. Thank you to Founder/ CEO Vatana Watters, Style Director Sydney Watters, Creative Director Xay Vongphachanh, Wtoo by Watters Designer Elias Gutierrez and Marketing/PR Manager Michelle Cusator.
