I wore this outfit to walk around the ranch and lake. It’s perfect for a chilly day.
Welcome to my home – I wish! We stayed in a Big Timber Home (Panfish Popper – house #2) and it was the perfect place for me and Pete and our weekend stay. It has a master bedroom downstairs and a loft bedroom upstairs (perfect for little kids or other guests).
Y’all I’ve never done Clay Shooting before. Our instructor was so good and I hit it early on. YAY!
We happened to be at The Ranch at Paws Up during a celebrity chef weekend. What a bonus to meet Kristin Kish, winner of Top Chef – season 10. She has just opened her own restaurant in Austin, Texas. Go see her at Arlo Grey, located in The Line Hotel. Added bonus: We went clay shooting together and I loved getting to know her!
I got an autographed Kristen Kish Cooking cookbook while I was there. This is an excellent holiday gift idea for the foodie in your life!
We were there for the weekend in early October. Imagine our surprise when we woke up to SNOW! I was so excited that I ran out of our Timber Home and had Pete snap this picture before it all melted. GLORIOUS!
We went ATV riding with a guide and it was so fun. This was on the day it snowed! Have you ever seen me look dirty or discombobulated on the blog? Real life moments!
We spent a glorious weekend in October at The Ranch at Paws Up and I can’t wait to share this luxury ranch experience with you. Clay Shooting, ATV Riding, Spa Treatments, gourmet meals and a celebrity chef are just a few of the things we experienced. Wait until you see all of these pictures in today’s blog post! Who is ready to go Glamping?
When I say LUXURY ranch, I mean top-notch, amazing, can’t wait to go back experience! The Resort at Paws Up is everything you want in a beautiful Montana “glamping” experience with oodles of activities. This 37,000 acre ranch is great for families, couples or even a girls trip. All meals are included so it enjoyable for everyone. Even wine and beer is included at dinner! The restaurants are all located in a central area of the ranch.
Pete and I were invited to experience the property and activities. The property put us in a Big Timber Home (Panfish Popper) and we absolutely loved it! It’s a luxurious 1,900 square foot cabin with a wood-burning fire place offers two bedrooms/two bathrooms with one king-sized bed in the master bedroom (downstairs), two full-size beds in a loft-style second bedroom (upstairs), kitchen, laundry room, spacious exterior deck with hot tub, satellite TV, Internet, and your own personal car. Yes, you heard right – they give you use of a Kia Soul and it’s parked outside your home. The keys are in it and you just jump in and take it wherever you need to be on the ranch!
Let’s talk activities – there are endless possibilities. We chose ATV rides, Clay Shooting and Spa treatments. Y’all, we had so much fun! The day we went ATV riding it decided to snow. We experienced fall and winter in the same weekend! The snow quickly melted but we were able to get some great pictures while it lasted. Everything you do at Paws Up will be with an expert level guide. I know this first hand because when we went Clay Shooting, our guide taught me how to shoot! He was also able to adapt to our various levels of shooting experience. I have none and Pete has a lot. We then went to the Spa for massages and I can tell you that we thoroughly enjoyed unwinding.
That evening, we got to have dinner at Pomp Restaurant. Paws Up regularly brings in celebrity chefs as a feature for their guests at no extra cost. As part of their Cookbook Live Series, Kristen Kish was there that weekend and cooked an amazing 5 course meal for guests paired with exquisite wines. We loved getting to chat with Kristen and quickly figured out that we would be Clay Shooting together the next day. I was so happy to get her cookbook and she signed it for me. There are endless special events like this at Paws Up. Be sure to check their website for other events like the Montana Master Grillers weekend. After dinner, it’s not uncommon to see people outside making smores over an open fire.
Paws Up is such an easy ranch to visit. Simply fly into Missoula, Montana and its a short 35 minute drive northeast. Round trip transfers from the airport to The Resort at Paws Up are included. You might remember from this blog post about Missoula, that there is a non-stop flight from Dallas daily.
While most families plan their summer stay for 5-7 days, Paws Up is also known for long weekends and holidays. They celebrate everything big and were in the middle of planning their Thanksgiving weekend and Christmas holiday when we were there. Don’t forget about special celebrations like Valentine’s Day. Paws Up is also known as a great place to vacation on Spring Break!
Our 3-day weekend was simply not long enough. We’re already plotting on how we can go back. During our property tour we found out that Paws Up is planning a second ranch nearby – one that will be a luxury experience for adults only. Plans show it opening at the end of 2019 so you know where I will be… Be sure that you are subscribed to TanyaFoster.com – a lifestyle blog so that you can get all the scoop when it opens!
Raise your hand if you want to join me at Paws Up next time. What activities would you select? Click here to book your stay.

P.S. If you are wondering why we didn’t stay in one of the luxury tents nestled on the Blackfoot River, we were a little too late. They shut those down at the beginning of October. Good thing – it snowed!

Thank you to The Resort at Paws Up for the press trip opportunity. All opinions are my own.
One (out of so many) of my favorite places was the honeymoon tent. Don’t be misled by the word “tent” when glamping at Paws. Full bathrooms with heated floors, heating and A/C, and a campsite butler, I mean! Anyway, the tent we visited is on an isolated cliff that has a beautiful view of the river, a campsite dining pavilion with a chef and butler, and a two-person tub among other amenities.
Great photography!

What a lovely getaway for the family. The earthy colors math the rustic nature of the environment. I can imagine myself walking among the lovely trees and alongside the lake. I could also imagine what it feels like after a long day to go lounging on those comfy looking chairs. Th entire scenery is so wholesome and welcoming.
Great photos! The snow looks so pretty. I want to go! It looks amazing, and I’ve been wanting to try some glamping. 🙂
