Happy Hump Day! I am still trying to get out of vacation mode. Last week Pete and I went to the Dunmore Resort in the Bahamas (read all about our trip HERE), so today I want to look at what to pack for a week in the Bahamas. Not only that, I’ll show you how I styled everything in my suitcase.
What to pack for a week in the Bahamas
Before we begin let’s talk a few packing tips. I do hang everything on the wardrobe rack (top picture) before I pack it. This helps me see how well things will mix and match. I don’t pack by occasions/outfits. I simply bring enough to wardrobe myself when I get there. The only exception to this is if I am attending a special event like a wedding. Another tip I use when traveling and checking a bag is to always pack a swimsuit, cover-up, pajamas, essentials toiletries and change of underwear in your carry-on (middle picture). That way, if your luggage gets lost or is delayed you can still enjoy your trip until your bag arrives.
Now about my travel look…I love to wear something that’s beach ready so that I can go straight from the plane to the resort without changing. This black midi dress (wearing a size M) was perfect for my trip. It’s also super comfortable! The best luggage for me is Tumi luggage. It’s large enough for a week long trip, but also small enough to carry on if need be. I just got this Tumi accent kit to make my luggage easily recognizable at baggage claim. We just look for the red accent pieces and we know its ours. What you don’t see pictured is that I also packed the larger Tumi luggage. They all have four wheels so they are easy to navigate. I use my beach tote as a carry on as well. So to answer your question, I pack two suitcases and one beach tote bag for an entire week.
When you pack for a week in the Bahamas, it’s all about the beach look! Below I linked my cover-ups from the trip. Cabana Life is a go-to for me to find great cover-ups. Of course you need cute sun hats and beach totes to complete your beach look.
You of course need fabulous swimsuits when traveling to the beach. And what about this oversized beach hat for a chic beach look?? It folded up to fit in my suitcase and was totally worth it for the photo opp. Plus, it gave me great sun coverage.
Ok this cubic zirconia band was the best thing I ever purchased. I don’t like to bring my wedding ring to the beach and feel safer leaving it our safe. This ring is so cute and the perfect replacement. Bonus is that it’s under $100!
You definitely need dinner looks when going to the Bahamas! I love having lightweight and cute dresses. How cute is this turquoise dress that I purchased at a cute boutique in the Bahamas?? I also bought these raffia slide sandals to go with it and I’m obsessed. It’s the perfect vacation look. This white cotton dress was another great find for the trip and under $100.
Everyday Casual Looks
These are my everyday looks for daytime activities. A pair of denim shorts is a must. I love these Agolde denim shorts. They are a great length and fit, plus they’ve consistently been a best seller on Tanya Foster blog!
These are must-have products to keep my hair looking fresh in the beach climate. It’s 100% humid in the Bahamas. This dpHUE color oil therapy keeps your hair moisturized and hair color looking fresh for between visits. This Color Wow anti-frizz treatment was a game changer to tame your hair in the humid Bahamas climate. I din’t use any hair tools. Only these two products and a hair dryer.
Breakfast in bed on vacation? Yes please! For this occasion, you need the perfect beach-y pajamas. This Soma sleepshirt was the perfect weight for the tropical temperatures, plus the palm print is SO perfect for the beach. I also loved having this striped pajama set as another option. They are so soft and they feel good on your skin.
Below are all of the items I packed for a week in the Bahamas. I’m ready to plan my next getaway, what about you? xoxo – Tanya
