H E L L O! Last week felt like it would never end. I’m so grateful for the snow to be gone. Many of you follow me on Instagram and have been tuning in to my Instagram Live chats and watching my IGTV. It is a great time to talk in detail about some favorite topics, plus answer questions from all of you. This is when I do Q & A’s that I normally don’t mention on the blog, so I encourage you to join in on the fun. If you need to learn about how to watch my video content, click HERE. I know some of you have asked for more BTS of my influencer life, so today I want to discuss the 5 ways that I get ready for IG Live. I have another one coming up soon, so be sure and tune in 🙂
5 Ways I Get Ready For IG Live
1. Wear comfortable clothing
During IG Live I sit there for an hour, so comfortable clothing is a must. My go-to is a cozy loungewear set. I love this Lou & Grey sweatshirt and these Lou & Grey sweatpants. They are so so soft and come in 7 color choices. I wear my lounge set with these Jenni Kayne shearling slide sandals. They are like wearing slippers! You will also love these Vince shearling sandals and these Veronica Beard shearling sandals for less expensive options.
2. Great lighting
It is key to have great lighting for IG Live. Sometimes I am off-site, like the IG Live I did from Lake Austin Spa Resort, so I need a light. No one wants to watch me talk in the dark! My favorite light is this LED ring light. I love it because it has a phone connector and an adjustable tripod stand. It is so easy to use and gives you the perfect lighting no matter where you are.
3. Research topics to be discussed and ask questions of my followers before the segment
Research is so key! I want to give you all the best information on each topic, so I do my best to know as much as I can ahead of time. I also ask you all questions beforehand. It is so hard to track live questions during an IG live segment, so asking ahead of time makes my life way easier. This also leaves more time for research!
4. Make sure the background items are appropriate. Does the setting match the topic?
This is another important item. If I am talking about food, I need to be in the kitchen and so on. I also have to be sure that I don’t have anything that’s distracting to my audience or me during the time of the segment. Typically for casual conversations, I am sitting in this chair in my office. This bookcase is behind me which gives depth to the setting.
5. If someone will be joining me as a guest, work out the details ahead of time
This is SO important! I regularly have guests join me on IG Live. They are an important part of the segment, so the details matter. This includes making sure both parties have a good WiFi connection, communicating questions and topics to be discussed, as well as time and place. Working out all of the kinks ahead of time ensures that you have a successful IG Live. Thank goodness P.J. joined me for the IG Live where we discussed the Mandalorian. Those questions were way over my head! Click HERE to see it.
Well there you have it! These are the 5 ways I get ready for IG Live. Don’t forget to follow me on Instagram so that you can join in on the next segment. If you need to learn how to watch Instagram live, click HERE. Also, if there is a topic you want to learn or want me to discuss further, comment below or send me a DM on Instagram. If it’s a topic that you’re interested in, I’m sure other followers are curious about it as well.
Happy Monday! Thanks for stopping by.
xoxo – Tanya
