Do you ever wonder if your house needs a little refresh? The answer is YES and this is the perfect time to focus on some home decor updates. Today I want to share a few home pieces and some tips on how to update your home. After all, your wardrobe isn’t the only thing that needs to be updated each season. The boutique below has plenty of options for every home style at all different price points. Click the photo above to shop those items or keep scrolling.
Easy Home Decor Updates
The easiest way to update your home is with pops of color. In the image above, I chose to add orange and gold accents, but you could opt for other spring tones like blues, greens or yellows. You can do that with pillows, wall art, candles, you name it. My personal favorite way to add color is with pillows. This geometric lumbar pillow is a more muted way for you to add color. You can also buy pillow covers instead of new pillows. This is a great way to change up your home each season without having to buy new pillows. Throw blankets are another great way to add color and texture to your home for a little refresh without breaking the bank.
Simply changing items out can also make a big difference. Switch out the plates you use every day for some colorful or seasonal dishes. This Vietri metallic pearl tray is a beautiful and chic way to serve your food this season. It can also double as a plate to display as decor in your kitchen. You can also add some new glasses or mugs to match your updated home decor. I love these mugs because they are well made and come in beautiful colors. Even adding a new tablecloth can make a huge difference.
Another option to easily update your home decor is with a rug. Changing out a rug in your living room can get pricey. Instead, consider changing out the runner in your kitchen or hallway. Some other bigger furniture pieces that will give you a quick update includes dining chairs, a stool ottoman or a wall mirror. Adding a home bar, like with this chic leather bar cart, is another bigger item that will instantly update a living space.
There are many simple decor pieces that can give your home a quick facelift. Changing out your lamps is one great option. This circular table lamp is a gorgeous piece for updating your home. Find a similar option for under $20 here. You can also change or add wall art. This escargot wall art would be so cute in a bathroom. Items that go on surfaces like coffee table books or decorative bowls are also easy to change out with the season.
Lastly, bring the outdoors in. Add a faux or real plant to make it feel more spring-like in your home. You can also bring in some faux florals to brighten up your home. For something more permanent, add floral wall paper to an office or as a statement wall in your living space. You can also add a fresh spring scent with a spring scented candle.
If you’re looking for other ways to update your home for spring, consider these tips below. They are a little more costly and time-consuming but can really pack a punch.
- Change up your outdoor entertainment seating and/or decor.
- Upgrade the hardware on your cabinets
- Upgrade other fixtures like lights
- Increase curb appeal with landscaping
- Update window treatments
- Add new paint or wallpaper
I always say that it’s best to keep your house completely updated because you never know when you might want/need to sell it. We’ve recently went through this process with our pool and guest bedroom and it makes a huge difference.
Have a great weekend! xoxo – Tanya

Excellent information as I am going through spring cleaning this weekend. It feels good to bring in the color, flowers, and clean lines. Thank you, Tanya!!
Thanks for all the good ideas, Yes, I’m updating this year, New paint, new landscaping, new blankets, towels, pictures, etc. I keep saying this every year, but I’m actually going to do it this year. I just need to pick out the paint and I’ll probably go from there. Oh, by the way, I like your black and white outfits. Happy international women’s day.
Those scallop sheets are super pretty!
Serena & Lily is definitely one of my favorite sources! Love my Balboa counter stools!
