Happy Monday! How was your Mother’s Day weekend? I hope it was filled with family and friendship. I spent the weekend moving all of our things back in to place as the home remodel is nearly complete. And our kids made it home from college so I wanted everything just perfect.
I love it when film, fashion and fun come together in a blog post. Add friendship to it and it’s perfect. Today, I want you to meet my dear friend Katherine Harper. Our worlds first collided back in 2010 when I was producing the Dallas International Film Festival. Katherine is the Director of Marketing/PR for Reel F/X an award-winning animation house here in Dallas. They are sponsors of DIFF in that they bring in an amazing animator to honor with the Tex Avery award. I clicked with Katherine from the minute we met and loved working with her. She is fashion savvy, creative and she has a delicious food blog named Gour-Maybe? In fact, this is how she met her husband (it’s the fascinating story she is telling me in our pictures above).
Our worlds intersected again when a short film brought us together last summer. She helped executive produce The Mink Catcher and I was cast in the film. Imagine how excited we were when we learned the film would screen at Lincoln Center in New York City. Of course this was a great excuse for a quick weekend trip. While in New York we decided to take a stroll in Central Park before heading to Sunday brunch. The cherry blossom and dogwood trees were in full bloom and absolutely spectacular!
One of the things I love about Katherine is that she has an easy, laid-back style. While walking and talking she shared a great fashion tip. She has lost two different earrings making two sets incomplete. She added both of them to a long chain and uses them as pendants. This is a brilliant idea and a great way to maximize jewelry that you wouldn’t otherwise get to wear.
I am linking you to our NYC Sunday style below. By the way, The Mink Catcher screening was a huge success. Congratulations to filmmakers Samantha Buck and Marie Schlingmann!
On Tanya: Navy and white cotton dress; I like this one too / Converse chucks / jacket (on sale) / This That & Moore bracelet / sunglasses / LV bag / all jewelry my own, but these great earrings are a must for travel
On Katherine: Isabel Marant Etoile top / J Brand jeans / Saint Laurent wedges (similar here)/ Gucci bag / Earrings: Vardonne / Bracelets: Monique Pean and Eddie Borgo
Be sure to check out Gour-Maybe? Katherine makes things I would never attempt but make me want to run right over and join her for dinner. xoxo- Tanya
