Vintage red coat and navy woven purse from Vintage Tex (similar red coat here) / White shirt / Skinny jeans / Animal print pumps (here for less; on SALE) / Hermes belt / Sunglasses / Necklace
Have you ever thought about shopping at a vintage shop? Recently, I was asked to style a view pieces at Vintage Tex and today I’m showing you how you can incorporate amazing pieces into your wardrobe. They are a fraction of the cost of current day items.
Vintage Tex is a beautiful vintage store in downtown Grapevine, Texas. I met up with Style of Sam and The Fashion Hour to do a Facebook live segment for EyeOpener TV. The assignment was for us to pull a view pieces and show how we would style them. I have to say, I loved the challenge. You can see that piece at the bottom of this post. Sam, Natalie and I all have blogs with individual styles. I love working with other bloggers and appreciate how they style things. The items I found tend to be classic in style. I even found a vintage Neiman Marcus suit with the label in it. Back then they used to hyphenate “Neiman-Marcus”.
The key to incorporating vintage into your wardrobe is to only pick one or two pieces and mix it with your modern clothes. For example, I found this fabulous red swing coat (it was only $40!) and navy woven purse and decided to add them to my casual jeans and white button down shirt. It instantly elevates my casual combo. A style trick about vintage is to not wear it head to toe. It tends to look like a costume at that point. You’re not headed to a 60’s party.
We had so much fun that we are hosting a giveaway on Instagram. Be sure to check my feed today and look for the picture of the blue purse (later today). Do you have a favorite vintage shop? Be sure to tune in to EyeOpener TV on Friday, February 17 at 6:30 AM to see a segment I’ll be doing about my experience.
Happy weekend! xoxo- Tanya
