How to Wear Colored Shoes and Make them POP!

Did y’all know that we have just a little over a week left of Spring? I can hardly believe how fast it went! Although I always love starting a new season, I sometimes find it difficult to think of fresh outfit ideas toward the end of every season. Don’t you? So a couple weeks ago, I went shopping with a friend and stumbled upon these fabulous yellow shoes on MAJOR SALE (they come in black too). These are the kind of shoes that totally make an outfit. This inspired me to style an otherwise simple monochromatic look on top, which allowed my shoes to really POP! And it got me thinking how hesitant some of us may be to buy a bold shoe. That’s why today I want to share with you my best tips on how to wear colored shoes…

First things first, let the shoes do the talking! When you have a bright colored shoe like mine, you want to allow them to be the showstopper. Less is more, in my opinion! That’s why I went with all white on top. It looks clean, classic and simple. This way my shoes really stand out! When you have amazing shoes, don’t you want to show them off as much as possible? I know I sure do. So when you’re wondering how to wear colored shoes, I suggest pairing them with your basics and your outfit will look instantly updated.

Another tip when you have fun, bold shoes is to have a little fun with your accessories. As you can tell, I finished off this outfit with my favorite acrylic purse (similar here), gold bracelets, pink earrings (comes in tons of other colors), and these heart sunglasses (great dupe for the Saint Laurent glasses). Pink and yellow actually compliment each other very nicely. So don’t be afraid to mix colors like this that you may not think of at first. Other interesting color combos could be pale blue and pink, red and blue, lilac and green, pink and orange, blue and orange, green and pink, red and pink, or even green and yellow. There are endless options that are modern and on-trend. Have fun, but try not to overdo it. When it comes to color, I also love to incorporate my shoe color into my outfit somewhere else on top, such as with some yellow earrings instead. This is a great way to solve the problem of how to wear colored shoes, as it makes everything come together more cohesively!
