Happy Monday! Before we get started with our regular blog post, I want to take some time to pray and reflect. 9/11 will never be a normal day in our lives. Oddly enough, it seems to coordinate with New York Fashion Week each year so I just returned home from NYC. I’m doing an Instagram round-up on the blog today and explaining why I’m so glad to be home.
It’s been 16 years since 9/11/01 and somehow I will never forget exactly where I was and what I was doing that day. Today, I ask that everyone just take some extra time to reflect, pray, sit still, be thankful and just breathe. THANK YOU to our service men and women, our veterans and firefighters, police and all those who keep us safe and provide us with our FREEDOM.
I think it was for this very reason that after I shot the new Chico’s campaign last week, I opted to head home early and skip NYFW. Pete was with me and we certainly had fun in the city but I just couldn’t get excited about all the fashion show hoopla. Maybe it’s because of hurricane Harvey and the recent devastation to Houston and southeast Texas in addition to news that people were fleeing Florida because of hurricane Irma. Truth be told, fashion designers could give a rats a$$ if I am sitting at their runway show. Fashion shows are now instantly downloaded and I get daily e-mails with trends alerts, pictures and video. My dear friend Lynsey Eaton of Tomboy KC says it best in this blog post. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good trip to NYC and I certainly love fashion. I just wasn’t feelin’ it this year.
That being said, I am so glad to be home and back in the saddle. And I want you to know that on this day (and every day) I am THANKFUL for you and this beautiful country we live in!
xoxo – Tanya
P.S. Who watched the season 3 premier of Outlander last night? I have a little treat for you at the bottom of this post. 🙂
Instagram Round-Up
I absolutely love this new Hartmann luggage. This is the 7R collection 21″ spinner which is carry-on compliant. They also make a 28″ hardside spinner. Both have 4 wheels.
New York City is such a fun place to be. Pete snapped this with his iPhone as we were out and about shopping. I just snagged these colorful slides at the Schutz store at 655 Madison. Every time I’m in the city I try to pop in and see what’s new. The leather cross-body bag is Officina Del Poggio, a beautiful Italian brand I just got at Stanley Korshak. The leather is so soft it feels like butter!
Let me be clear, I am not paid to promote OLLY. I really to believe they make a difference in how I feel. Getting sick or slowing down is not in my game plan even when I have a 12 hour shoot day. I take 2 ENERGY each morning and a bevy of others that I am linking you to. If you want to take just a few, I suggest ENERGY, SLEEP and the MULTI-VITAMIN.
Y’all I just discovered this fun shoe brand out of L.A. called KaLaCa. They are so unique and upped my cool factor by 100%! I got stopped everywhere in NYC with people wanting to know about these shoes. Check them out! These jeans are Mother Denim and so soft. They fit true to size.
This shot from this blog post was actually taken on the street in NYC in June. Chico’s has been such an amazing brand to work with. This was my 4th time to go to New York and shoot for them. Click here to see me on their website. Blessed!
Animal faux-fur vest / Black bateau-neck pullover / Juliet straight-leg pants / Bronzen pendant necklace / Luna bangles / Kalina hoop earrings / Barely boot cut jeans (meteor rinse) / Bow top in ecru / Black booties (similar)
I hope you caught this blog post about the launch of the Cuyana hobo bag last week. I absolutely love this brand because they are all about minimalism. Cuyana hobo bag in caramel (comes in 3 colors) is the perfect size and made of Italian pebbled leather.
Bell sleeve plaid sheath dress / Black military-inspired coat / T-strap bow pump / Black bag (consider this red one for a pop of color) / Beret (not pictured) / Sunglasses
This amazing combo from Talbots is in this blog post in case you missed it.
Wait, how did Jamie Frazer get here? I wish I could link to him! 🙂

Very well said, Tanya. You put in to words what ,I’m sure, many are feeling. And good for you for listening to your heart and coming on home.
9/11/01. Always remember.
I agree Tanya. NYFW must feel like a frivolous activity on such a sacred day for all Americans. Glad you and Pete made it back home safe and sound.
Great person with an even better heart. You’re a true gem in the world! Love ya Xx
