Happy Monday! Recently I tried two new procedures at the Dallas Center for Dermatology and Aesthetics and I want to share them with you. Have you heard of microblading? It’s the latest trend in the search for perfect eyebrows. While I was there, I also tried CoolSculpting on one of the hardest areas to reduce your fat – the inside of your knees.
Microblading is a form of tattooing. Unlike a regular tattoo, microblading is a form of tattoo artistry where pigment is implanted under your skin with a manual handheld tool instead of a machine. Hair-like strokes are drawn with the tool to mimic natural hairs in your brows. Even though it’s not as deep as the regular tattoo, it’s still a tattoo because pigment is implanted under the skin. Charlene Wilson, C.M.E. is an artist with this tool! She puts numbing cream on your eyebrows first and then proceeds to match your color. After all, she is enhancing your eyebrows and filling in as needed. You want a perfect color match. Next, Charlene used the microblading tool (it looks like a small exacto knife) to make hair-like strokes in your eyebrows. The dye is applied and soon you are done. It doesn’t hurt at all it just feels like someone is scratching at your eyebrows. There is no down time. Just take it easy and apply the aftercare ointment for the next few days. Brows look slightly darker at first but will fade a little after three days. You will have perfectly shaped brows for the next two years.
The CoolSculpting procedure safely delivers precisely controlled cooling to gently and effectively target the fat cells underneath the skin. Treated fat cells are crystalized (frozen), then die. Over time, your body naturally processes the fat and eliminates these dead cells, leaving a more sculpted you. I’ve tried CoolSculpting before on my love handles and you can read about it in this blog post and see the before and after photos in this post. Dr. Lori Stetler and Charlene had been telling me that they were getting a new attachment for smaller areas of the body allowing you to take care of little problems. These include the little fatty area under your armpits and just above your bra (I call that boob fat), under your chin, and your knees. They have a DualSculpting system which uses two CoolSculpting devices. This cuts your procedure time in half because they can work on two areas at once. Charlene has just done the inside of my knees. You can see me with the CoolSculpting machine above. It does not hurt and I was working on my phone the entire time.
As always, I will do a follow-up post with before and after pictures of both treatments. I wanted to get this blog post published this week because the Dallas Center for Dermatology and Aesthetics is going to have some pretty incredible deals during Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
