Whether you are headed to a black tie event, cocktail party, casual gathering or just plan on staying in, I’ve rounded up looks for New Year’s Eve. Ringing in 2019 doesn’t matter to you? That’s ok, I’ve put together lots of outfit selections to get your January started off right! What are your plans for December 31st? Casual, Cocktail or Comfy?
I’m detailing a variety of looks today on the blog. While this blog post is intended to be NYE inspired, I realized as I was pulling outfits together that this is a great post for January fashion inspiration. Especially since so many great After Christmas Sales are continuing through the beginning of January. Be sure to check out this blog post so you don’t miss any of my sale alerts.
Many of these looks today have never been seen before. Typical me, I shoot a look and then it doesn’t get published due to other content deadlines. That’s ok, it will be some fresh material for today! I’m breaking down the looks by category and putting together some additional suggested pieces. So whether you are heading to a Black Tie event, having a beautiful dinner with your love, gathering with girlfriends for drinks and a movie or just staying home, I have looks for any type of NYE. In fact, these pieces will be great of January too!
SURPRISE GIVEAWAY: Leave me a comment on today’s blog post and tell me which style you are for NYE: Casual, Cocktail or Comfy. And, what are your New Year’s Day traditions? TWO lucky winners will be shipped a Surprise Box full of beauty products to start their January 2019 off with a bang! Winners will be selected and contacted on January 1. Good Luck!
What do you all do on New Year’s Day? Our tradition is to eat Black Eyed Peas and Corn Bread. We do it each year as it brings you luck and prosperity. Other than that, we watch football games and just take it easy. It’s a great day to get caught up on movies too. Have you seen anything you would recommend?
This will be my last blog post for 2018. Wishing you a Happy New Year! xoxo – Tanya
Casual Looks
Heading to a friends house or just hanging out on December 31? I’ve rounded up a few cute outfit choices. This exact look can be found here.
Cocktail Looks
The dress I have on is sold out but I have linked lots of other great black dresses. The lucite clutch bag is Charlotte Max. Shoes are linked here.
Long Dresses
The sleeve on this dress is the “WOW” factor. It fits like a glove! Shoes are linked here. Lucite bag with handle is Charlotte Max.
OK, if you are feeling a little Va Va Voom, this is your dress. It hugs the body in all the right places! My YSL shoes are old but I found a similar pair here. By the way, I use SiO Beauty Skinpad silicone patches on my décolleté when I have a neckline like this. You cane wear them overnight or I pop them on for an hour before a party or event. Check out this blog post for all the details.
Cocktail Looks
Comfy Looks
OK, I am a HUGE fan of lounge wear! I love hanging out in mine on the weekend and holidays. It’s just so comfortable. Rounding up some of my favorites for you in case your plans are to stay home and snuggle up by the fireplace. Also, Taylor found the source of the exact robe that the Ritz-Carlton spa uses. I gave this to every person in our family this Christmas. I had them monogrammed locally. They are so comfortable and cozy!
This year I’ll be in my PJ’s and flip flops, thankfully! Love all your looks, but I am surprised you did not have a jumpsuit. My New years day is the same, black eye peas, cornbread, and football. Recent movies were The Grinch and Bohemian Rhapsody. Loved them both!
Cocktail look, for sure! I don’t have any event to wear those looks, but I love anything glam.
I grew up eating black-eyed peas, cornbread, and collard greens for New Year’s. I still like to incorporate that, but often we just have Popeyes chicken:)
Happy New Year’s!
Kathy-
CONGRATULATIONS! You are the WINNER.
I am e-mailing you to ship the Surprise Box to you.
Happy 2019!
xoxo- Tanya
Comfy — I grew up eating black-eyed peas and watching football; still holding to those tradeitions
Hi Tanya,
I love your blog, especially the beauty posts! After years of cocktail celebrations and parties, I choose casual! A quiet dinner at our favorite place and ringing the New Year in with our sweet grand daughter are things I look forward to!
Difinently casual NYE. Early dinner then watch “Top Gun”, a family tradition. New Years Day is black eyed peas and cornbread and being lazy!
I am all about the casual look since football is king at our house. New Year’s Day is all about black eyed peas and cornbread and then off to a low carb diet for 2019. Happy New Year.
We are comfy for sure! We also eat black eyed peas on New Years Day!
It is going to be comfy this year. Instead of the black eyed peas/cornbread, we are trying tamales and chimichurri rice (from Trader Joes) for a change. My favorite new years eve drink is the French 75 (gin, fresh lemon, slash of simple syrup, and champagne)–they go down VERY easy!! We always reflect on the many blessings we have. We focus not on regret, but upon looking at mistakes as lessons for the future. Bring on 2019!!
Wishing you a fabulous new year!
I like to dress up for NYE. Usually more to the cocktail side, with glam makeup. Those times I decide to go casual, the makeup stays glam. haha!
We don’t really have any NYD traditions. It’s a very lazy and low-key day, and after the glam from the night before, I designate NYD as a pajama day.
It’ll be a casual NYE for us this year so we can get up on the 1st to go skiing!
Tanya: this year I am going casual. I recently lost my mom and will be hanging with my dad. we will share good memories and wish for a blessed 2019
Terri
This year we will be casual comfy. Early dinner and movies at home! On New Years Day we will head to a family members for our tradition-ham, cheese grits and black eyed peas and plenty of Boody Marys! Topped off with football!
We stay in NYE always. Dressy comfy, nice jeans cashmere poncho lots of jewelry. Dinner will be Maine lobster and a prime ny steak bottle of Veuve Clicquot champagne and some great win with dinner. If not too cold ( we’re having a cold snap in Scottsdale) we’ll sit out on patio with heater on Dan will smoke a Cuban cigar and I’ll have a glass of champs. I’ll wear my long mink to keep warm! We watch football New Year’s Day and this coming Saturday night
Thank you Tanya for a fun year of enjoying your blog, wishing you and your family a very happy new year
Hi Tanya!
I am a new reader of your blog. Love it! (I just read about your contacts and will be making an appointment so I can ditch these readers. Fingers crossed)
New Years no longer means parties and getting all dressed up. We stay home with our sweet Havapoo Murphy ….he is terrified of fireworks. Will be getting very comfortable and hope to make it to midnight
Like you, I have grown “kids” so I usually hear from them at midnight then call it a night. Black eyed peas for sure (is that a southern thing?) and watching our Longhorns in the Sugar Bowl on New Years Day!
Happiest of New Years to you and your family.
Casual all the way. I look forward to your posts every day. Love your sense of humor and style! Both are spot on! Keep it coming.
We are all about casual now, but we still like to bring out the champagne and watch the ball drop. New Year’s Day is all about watching football and relaxing.
Just wanted to say thank you for a wonderful year of posts! I just started following in 2018 and have absolutely loved the variety and content. Can’t wait to see what you bring in 2019!
Casual style! We will celebrate with neighbors on NYE and then have blackeyed peas and cornbread for the first. Football will be on the TV all day! Wishing you a blessed and Happy New Year!
I will be wearing my bathing suit at the pool! Visiting my sister in law in in Florida! This Cleveland girl will be wearing winter comfort clothes soon enough! Comfort all the way!
I’m loving the NYE casual looks! I can just see myself in anyone of these items looking all snazzy.
Comfort clothes for sure, look forward to cooking up black eye peas, watching football AND the New Year’s Day Tournament of Roses Parade! Never miss the parade even if I’m out of town – it’s my personal tradition! Happy New Year to you and yours!
I’m a casual NYE person – but I secretly wish I was cocktail person! I mean, that Kaleidoscope cold-shoulder velvet-trimmed sequined chiffon top by Needle & Thread is GORGEOUS!
My ideal NYE would involve an outfit change of all 3 – casual, cocktail & comfy… Ha!
Our New Years Day always revolves around football & friends!
Hope you have a safe & happy NYE…
I’ll be casually dressed for New Years, we generally get together at a friends house with all the kids and let them play while the adults play games!!
I love your Va Va Voom dress! Although I like to get dressed up, this year will be casual and comfy. A relaxing day at home with great northern beans and cornbread with a few black-eyed peas for luck. Football for sure and taking down the Christmas decorations. Have a great New Year.
We’re very casual on New Years Eve. New Year’s Day is reserved for blackeye peas, cabbage, the rose parade and football!
COMFY all the way… for NYE I just stay home and watch the ball drop on TV
PS I love the star sweater… too bad it’s sold out
I love the cocktail look! I will be headed to a New Year’s Party that this would look perfect at. Love your blog!
I love your cocktail looks, but I’ll be going comfy this year. We don’t have any special traditions other than our wedding anniversary is on the 30th so we go out that night and stay home on the 31st.
Hopping john and collard greens for money. Hopping john is a Charleston, S. C. Tradition. Black eyed peas and rice for luck. Love the clothes and the blog. Happy New Year.
Like the casual look. Done the Black tie parties- been there done that.
Now just like to have an early dinner and home for the Ball drop in New York.
New Years’ day is black eye peas, Jiffy cornbread and cabbage ( if I make it).
Time to catch up on movies, videos and books. Start my new Erin Condren planner for 2019.
Dressy casual…We celebrate New Year’s Eve having dinner at a nice restaurant with close friends. Happy New Year!!
