Today I want to share with you my recent trip to Waco to visit my assistant, Brooke, and her mom, Janna, and their boutique. Together they own a women’s clothing store in the heart of downtown Waco, Texas called Roots Boutique. And you’re going to want to visit it ASAP!
To give you a little bit of history on this store, Roots Boutique was opened in 2009 by the former owner. Brooke studied Fashion Design at Baylor University (former roommate of our daughter – that’s how we met her), so she decided to apply for a job at the cute boutique in town. About a year into Brooke working at Roots, the previous owner sadly passed away from cancer. Brooke was the manager of the boutique at the time (and a college student) which meant she had to pick up from there to keep the store going. Brooke and her parents then decided to purchase the boutique so that they could continue its legacy!
The store has so many fun things to offer: cute and affordable clothing, accessories, shoes, home decor, and their latest addition, swimwear! They carry brands such as Free People, THML, Sugar Lips, BBDakota, Umgee, and tons more. Roots caters mostly to the “Baylor girls’ style”, but you can also find clothing suited for women of all ages. I always shop there when I am in town to visit our college kid(s) who attend Baylor University. The store is definitely one of a kind as you can see by its location and the decor. Roots is located in an old factory building and you can see the history in a space like this. They do an amazing job of decorating the establishment and giving it an “Anthropologie” vibe.
All three of us are wearing pieces from Roots Boutique that can currently be found in the store. I loved this white Free People top they styled me in. Super flowy and comfortable, while still being flattering. I paired it with my dark, raw hem denim and nude heels to show how versatile just one piece from their store can be. On Brooke, she is wearing a red off the shoulder top (linked a similar one) paired with black jeans and loafers. This is a more casual play on their young style items available. On Janna, she is styled in a ruffle sleeve top (similar), with white jeans and their new platform sandals. Janna is in full spring attire and I am loving it!
If you are planning a trip to Waco, you must take the time to pop into Roots Boutique! They have on trend clothing but also offer great gift items such as candles and journals. The whole area of downtown Waco is starting to grow and it is so fun to explore and find hidden gems like this store. And for those of you who would love to shop but aren’t going to Waco anytime soon, keep an eye out for their online shop opening soon. Y’all, their price points are so good. You don’t want to miss this little gem!

Waco is a great “half way” stop between Austin and Dallas.
Well yes, there’s that too.
xoxo- Tanya 🙂
I’m so glad Brooke decided to keep the store open. Kudos to her parents for helping. I grew up near Waco and go frequently. I love that older buildings are being renovated and used. I’ll stop in tomorrow or Monday when I’m there. Thanks for sharing!
I’m so glad that you are stopping in. Be sure to introduce yourself to Brooke and Janna.
