Coat: Patti Flowers Design (first seen here with dress) Linking lots of coat choices at bottom of post / Skinny jeans / Black cashmere turtleneck sweater (for less here) / Black pumps (these booties would be good too) / Coach bag / Sunglasses
Hello sweet friends! Happy Monday. Did you have a marvelous weekend? I did! I’ve just finished celebrating Veterans Day with the Sons of the Flag Stars & Stripes Luncheon and Film Festival. What a terrific 4-day event if I don’t say so myself (full disclosure: I consult on this project). Any who… Time to get back to reality and talk fashion. Specifically, let’s talk about the statement coat. Also, my second gift guide is published and at the bottom of this post. And guess who won the Enchant Christmas family 4-pack???
You’ve seen this statement coat before. It was custom made for me by the amazing Patti Flowers and was created to go over a beautiful black dress she designed. The full details are in this blog post. I’m wearing it with denim and a cashmere turtleneck today to show you that a good statement coat can be worn many ways and will be a staple in your wardrobe. For me personally, the longer the coat, the better! It’s more dramatic that way. However, I know all my readers aren’t tall so I have picked some shorter jackets and coats as well. The other thing you will notice in today’s look is that I keep the clothes underneath the statement coat simple. That way I don’t distract from the coat. Sort of the same way I did it in this blog post last week.
There are coats below in every price range. If you want to make a bold statement and splurge, this pink Oscar de la Renta is beyond fabulous. This burgundy orbit coat is a great price and this beautiful oversized trench is a steal. This pink tie-waist wool coat is one of my favorites!
Style Tip: I typically size up one size on all coats and outer wear. This will help when you start wearing layers underneath. And you never want your coat to pull in the front if you button it or feel too tight across the shoulders. For size reference, I’m 5′ 8″ tall and typically wear size 6 clothes. In coats I always get a size 8.
As always, thank you for reading the blog and leaving me comments. I love interacting with you!
xoxo – Tanya
P.S. The WINNER of the family 4-pack of tickets to the premier of ENCHANT CHRISTMAS is Andrei Constantinescu. Congratulations! Thank you to everyone who left a comment on the blog and participated in the giveaway.
