Two weeks ago I had the pleasure of going to San Miguel de Allende on a couples trip for my birthday. We had a marvelous time! In case you missed the details of the trip, read HERE. Today I want to take a closer look at what I packed and wore to San Miguel. These looks are not only great for any of your upcoming travels, but they’re also great spring transition looks. For reference, it was in the low 70’s during the day with full sunshine. At night it would drop to the mid 40’s. Layering is key for this climate.
What I Wore in San Miguel
First off, let’s look at my travel day look. To get to San Miguel, you have to take a flight followed by a 1 hour drive from the airport. This means you need something comfortable, but also cute so you can explore upon arrival. I always pack an extra layer in case the plane is cold. This cable knit sweater is perfect to drape over your shoulders or layer over a shirt. We check our luggage so my only carry-on item is my Goyard bag.
San Miguel is a mountain town situated at 6,200 feet, so you will experience warm weather during the day and very chilly temperatures at night. This means you need layers! This Cuyana cape was the perfect layer to keep me warm into the evening. I have it in black too. Get both – it’s that good!
A white maxi dress is a must for your trip. It’s lightweight and easy to go from walking around town to dinner. I wore this look to dinner, which is why I added this heart cardigan sweater (size 0) for when the sun went down. See another way that I styled this cardigan HERE. I also added my silver concho belt to give the dress some more shape. The dress is old but we linked something similar.
This fabulous halter high low dress was what I wore to my birthday dinner. I love the beautiful blue color and unique design! It was perfect for San Miguel. I wear a size 6 and the fit is TTS. Can’t wait to wear it with heels in Dallas.
This Americana sweater (size S) is a must for your travels. It was the perfect lightweight sweater for chilly mornings. I also brought the sweater on my trip to Germany in the spring. It’s truly so versatile and I own it in 3 colors! I paired my sweater with these jeans (size 27) and On Cloud sneakers. San Miguel is a ton of walking (on uneven cobblestone paths), so you need comfortable walking shoes! Do not pack heels for your trip!
Another fabulous dress for my trip was this tiered cotton midi dress. It’s cute and so comfortable, making it perfect to take you from shopping to lunch to everything in between! The fit is oversized so I recommend sizing down. I’m wearing size XS. This is what I wore for our winery tour and lunch.
How cute is this flutter sleeve top (size S) for a vacation look? I paired it with these ankle fray jeans (size 28/ this jean runs snug), slide sandals, and this small Lady Dior handbag that I just bought on my trip to London and Edinburgh!
Another maxi dress that is perfect for any upcoming warm weather travels you have coming up is this tiered gauze maxi dress (size 0). It is so comfortable and flattering! The dress also comes in a beautiful orange color if you are looking for a pop of color.
Which look is your favorite? xoxo – Tanya
