Today’s blog post will be a little different. Instead of me telling you about a beautiful destination, you will be helping me by giving me your input. It’s sort of a travel challenge. Let’s play ‘Where in the world’ would you go?
For the first time in my life I am stumped on booking a trip. Pete and I will be celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary in December. I know, he’s a saint for putting up with me! Recently I posted this question on my personal Facebook account and got so much input that I got overwhelmed. I am going to list all the destinations that were recommended and ask you – my loyal readers, for some help as well.
Here is the travel challenge. 1) It must be a destination that we haven’t been to before 2) We will be traveling in December and would ideally love to be there on our actual anniversary – December 19. So, keep in mind that its winter in the northern hemisphere.
Here are all the destinations that were listed on my FB post. If you have been to any of these specific locations, please leave a comment on the blog today. If you prefer to privately e-mail me, simply click here. I am hoping that we can all share this amazing information and gain knowledge about some new places to go and see. These are listed in no particular order.
Maui; Florence & Venice,Italy; Positano, Italy; Greece; Australia; St. Barts; Ojai Valley, California; Paris, France; Baltics; Maroma, Mexico; Turks & Caicos; Jade Mountain, St. Lucia; New Zealand; Marrakech, Morocco; Tahiti; Mustique; Sydney, Australia; Las Vegas, Nevada; Cayman Islands; Viking River Cruise; Bora Bora; Punta Mita, Mexico; Anguilla; IlBorro, Tuscany; Little Dix Bay; New York City; Maldives; Iceland; British Virgin Islands; Rosewood Mayakoba Hotel, Mexico; Croatia
Whew! See what I mean? What a fantastic list of suggestions. Now, have you been to any of these places? Are there others I should consider? Do you have a specific hotel/resort that you highly recommend? I realize you will have no way of knowing whether or not we have traveled to the destination or not. I’ll weed those out. I have covered a few destinations and you can find them under the travel tab on my site.
THANK YOU for helping me and giving your travel advice. Who knows, maybe I will chose your destination! xoxo – Tanya
P.S. Can you guess the locations of all the pictures today?

I have been on a Paul Gauguin cruise to Tahiti, Bora Bora, Moore and Raiatea, and Ta’haa’a and would go back there in a heartbeat. Would most likely go to 1 or 2 islands for a few days each. It is the most beautiful place on earth and the people are more than lovely. It is , however, a vacation for relaxing and just chilling out. Four Seasons, Bora bora is the place. You may want more adventure which would be a Moroccan vacation. Marrakech has more over the top gorgeous hotels (riads ) ) than anywhere you will ever find. A few days in the city with a guide then out to Richard Branson’s hotel in the desert. Definetly an adventure! Have fun choosing! I love travel planning!
My husband and I went to Jade Mountain in St Lucia in June. I can email you all about it and link you to my Flickr gallery. We also went to the Maldives in 2016, so I can email you about that too. We loved both places.
Have you been to Fiji?
Planning a trip is the best – here are a few tips & cant wait to read others!
Florence & Venice,Italy – so incredibly romantic & a favorite. I say 3 nights in each, add another night for some additional day trips.
Greece – YES! Athens for a couple days then pick an island!
Australia – perfect for this time of year. Sydney a couple days & then I recommend qualia on Hamilton Island near the reef.
Bora Bora – a once in a lifetime! Pick IHG or four seasons. Stay on a couple islands. Great time of year.
Punta Mita, Mexico – four seasons
Little Dix Bay – Greta property, think they just renovated too.
Have you done an African safari? #1 recommendation if not – check out Singita Boulders Lodge!
Happy planning!
We are in the same boat! Our 25th anniversary is December 20, but we are planning to travel in January since our kids will be home from college in December. We are leaning toward South Africa.
Stay out of France and Italy, its gray and rainy, good thing is fewer tourists.
Same goes for Florence and Venice, Positano most beaches will be shut down its off season.
What we did on our 25th is Postpone our celebration to September spent 6 weeks in Italy and France, specifically Florence, Venice, Amalfi Coast, Portofino, and French Riviera.
If you want to go in December and don’t want a long flight but luxurious accommodation and glamour go to St Bart.
Personally our best trip was 4 weeks in South of France, since you are a film buff you should go to Cannes during the film festival, stay at the Martinez on the Croissette or stay at Eden Roc. Do that in May it’s too dead in Dec.
I’ve been to Europe in Nov Dec great for no crowds and to see how low key Christmas is but not funbwalking around in gray and rain
100% Paris! It will be cold, but the same temps at NYC. It will be decorated for Christmas, and it will be beautiful! Will and I can make a LOT of fabulous dining suggestions, and my dear friend Elizabeth Seitz is the France trip coordinator to the stars!
My husband is from New Zealand and we took our children for 3 weeks and it was the trip of a lifetime. We also went in December which is summer there but mild compared to our Dallas summers. I highly recommend some time on both the North and South islands if you go.
One more idea since you ski. Very glamorous and romantic
Ski in the Alps!
Talk about oozing charm around Christmas!
My all time fave is Zermatt, number 2 is Chamonix, 3 Kitzbuhl, Austria
It’s horse drawn sleighs skiing pare ski is glam, you can take speed trams up the mountaintops for cozy chic lunches
Zermatt you fly into Switzerland and take a train
Chamonix is more direct, fly into France
Haven’t skied Gstaad it’s supposedly the jet set place,.
Be sure they have snow then they don’t blow fake snow like US resorts
Marrakesch was amazing! Loved everything about the city. Since you’re going at the end of the year……head south! Italy it would definitely be my favorite place, but again the weather. If a cruise is what you’d like I’d recommend the Seabreeze line for sure! Small, but elegant ship, NO tipping and ALL of your beverages are included………..alcohol is no problem, it’s included! How about a River boat up one of the smaller rivers? But for a 25th anniversary I’d suggest Marrakech beautiful 5 * resorts! A couple of years ago, it was THE scene for the Hollywood crowd. Being it’s still completely safe even though it is in Africa! Very safe! South Africa is always very nice.

Hi there!!
Iil palm island off the coast of Florida is nothing short of glorious. Unplug .. super private and super sexy! No touristy vibes at all.! I just love love it. My husband I and went for out 25. He surprised me with this trip.
I’m long winded. Lol.. and Mykonos Greece. I found it more private and Santorini and just a dream to stay at there resort. In December the weather will be perfect and the mediterranean is nothing short than amazing.
We are huge Hawaii travelers. St. Regis on Kauai is a fabulous way to spend a special anniversary.
I’ve been to Hawaii and love Maui. I plan on taking my kids to Aulani in 2019 and/or a couples’ trip to Four Seasons Maui or Grand Wailea. My honeymoon was a Mediterranean cruise that started in Rome and ended in Venice. My favorite stops along the way were the Amalfi Coast – Positano especially. I’ve never been to the Caribbean but my husband and I are planning a trip next year to either Turks & Caicos, Bermuda, St. Bart’s, or St. Lucia (and Jade Mountain is where I’d stay). I’ve been to London – it’s my favorite city, and my husband has been to Paris, so next year we plan a trip to Paris, London, and maybe Milan/Lake Como.
My dream trip is the French Riviera – Cannes.
