Listen, when my readers contact me and ask me to check out something, I do it. So when I got a request to see what SusieCakes was all about, I didn’t waste any time meandering on in and introducing myself. Someone has to sacrifice themselves and try out this 6-layers of vanilla cake baked with colorful sugar confetti, filled & frosted with retro-blue vanilla frosting. What diet???
Now normally I don’t do baked goods and sugar because I still try to stick with the Ideal Protein regimen that I told you about in this blog post. BUT, I did cave to try out the new hot spot in Dallas. Remember when I reported in on Carlo’s Bakery (yes, the one that has a line out the door regularly).
Yes there is a Susie. Her name is Susan Sarich and she bakes with the love she learned from both her Grandmothers. In fact, she uses their recipes that she had on handwritten 4×6″ index cards. Her baking rules are simple: “If you can’t spell it, we don’t bake with it.” Just like her grandmothers, they do not use any mixes, artificial preservatives, high-fructose corn syrups or trans-fats in their products. They bake their products from scratch using only the freshest and finest ingredients. This is baking like back in the 1950’s. Pure goodness!
SusieCakes is known for their layer cakes with their signature being the vanilla cake baked with sugar confetti and frosted with retro-blue vanilla frosting. DELICIOUS! So buttery that it melts in your mouth. Not far behind are their mini-cupcakes, cupcakes and cookies. Be sure to try her chocolate chip cookie which is large enough for two people. The frosted sugar cookies are really moist and I love that she makes them in the shape of Texas with a little red heart signifying Dallas. All products are packaged with little post-it notes to tell you how to care for them. Don’t stock up too much. There are no preservatives in any of the SusieCakes products so they will only last a day.
This is the only location outside of California. Preston Center seems to be a popular spot for bakeries. SusieCakes is located at 6100 Luther Lane in Preston Center and is open every day. www.SusieCakes.com 214.983.2253
Tanya’s Tip: Order the vanilla confetti cake for someones birthday (6″ cake is $36.00). Or go in and try a slice ($6.25/slice).
Enjoy! xoxo- Tanya
P.S. Today I’m on a day trip to Tyler, Texas to check out The Grove. Stay tuned for a blog post soon.

SusieCakes is truly old school greatness. You can taste the fresh ingredients. We have tried multiple flavors of the cupcakes, a cake or two, and the flourless cupcake. GOODNESS!!
Right by Hopdoddy, my favorite burger! So, next time I’m up that way, it will be a burger and cake!
The information you provide is quite helpful to me and to everyone else. I frequently watch them to gather facts
I’m constantly searching on the internet for posts that will help me. Too much is clearly to learn about this. I believe you created good quality items in Functions also. Keep working, congrats!
